Welcome to Good Shepherd Christian Nursery School as we begin our 2010-2011 school year. It is always nice to welcome back our students and to see how much they have grown over the summer. We also look forward to meeting and getting to know our new students and theirfamilies. The first few weeks of school will be filled with a mix of emotions and tears from not only the children but also their parents. We always tell the parents to give hugs, tell your children you love them and you will be back soon to pick them up and then you need to walk away. The majority of the time the teachers are able to redirect the children and engage them in an activity and the tears are gone. If at any time you are concerned as to how your child is doing once you are gone please feel free to call the school and I will gladly check on your child in their classroom and let you know how they are. Please be patient , it does take time for the children to adjust to a new environment, schedule and new people.
Our Good Shepherd staff has a few changes but with familiar faces. The playgroup lead teacher is Mrs. Jeanette Herster, assistant teachers are Mr. James Parry and Mrs. Charleen Burik. We would like to welcome Mrs. Tiffany Emrey to our staff of assistant playgroup teachers. Miss Tiffany has been helping in all of our classes for the past few years and we are happy to have her here at Good Shepherd.
Our Three year old Classroom teachers will remain the same with Mrs. Lynn Christenson as lead teacher and Mrs. Lori Sassano as assistant teacher.
In are Pre-K classroom we are sad to say good bye to our friend, director and lead teacher Miss Kay Muehlberger. Miss Kay will not be returning due to health reasons and our thoughts and prayers continue to always be with her. Our Pre-K class room will consist of Mrs. Darlene Creazzo as director and lead teacher. Miss Amy Coopersmith is an assistant teacher as well as a director of the parent association. Mrs. Charleen Burik is an assistant teacher as well as the person responsible for all of our extended care programs, our web site and the Scholastic book orders. We welcome Mrs. Tiffany Pursell who comes from our playgroup classroom as an assistant teacher in our Pre-K class.
The school newsletter is printed monthly to keep our families informed of upcoming dates and a calendar of activities for your child’s classroom. Please keep the calendar and schedule where you can be reminded of these dates.
On September 27 at 10:30 in our Pre-K classroom we will have a visit from Quiver Farms with a presentation on Johnny Appleseed. We welcome all children, but if it is not normally your child’s class time someone must stay with your child for the presentation and take them home after the presentation is over.
October 6 is our trip to the pumpkin patch at Country Fresh Farms in Hampton, NJ. Someone must bring and stay with your child at the pumpkin patch. Information with all the details on the trip will be going home later this month.
Please feel free to talk to any of the teachers or myself with any questions or concerns you might have . We are looking forward to a year of learning new things, having new adventures, mastering social and fine motor skills and making new friends.
