Dear Pre-K Parents,

Those lazy days of summer are gone and we hope everyone enjoyed the weather and time with family and friends. We will have plenty to do to keep the children busy in the month of September. We will start off by working on their fine motor skills by tracing on lines to prepare them as we learn to write all the letters in the alphabet. We will start with the letter Oo on the week of September 13.  Every Monday the children will take home a practice page with the letter of the week. Please have your child complete and return the letter page. The teachers will reward their hard work with praise and a sticker and the paper will be sent back home for you to keep. If at any time the teachers find a child is having difficulty with a letter we will send home some extra letter pages for you to work with your child at home or if you would like some practice pages of any letter we will be happy to make copies for you.

Apples, apples and more apples as we color, draw, make art projects and even eat apples and drink apple juice. We will have a presentation from Quiver farms and the children will see how to make apple juice with an apple press as they learn all about Johnny Appleseed.

As we welcome the season changing into fall later this month we will learn why the leaves change colors and make our own leaves. This is always a good time to also reinforce their knowledge of colors as we talk about all the different colors leaves become.

On September 29th at 6:00 we welcome all families to our open house where the children will be excited to show their families their art work and classroom. This will also give you an opportunity to talk to your child’s teachers. We will also have a Scholastic book fair the week of September 27 and we will have it open to our families the night of our open house
